Isola dei Nuraghi ‘Pranu Mariga’
Tasting notes
Winemaker’s notes: Deep garnet color. Intense and fruity aroma of berries, spices, and tones of sour cherry and plum. On the palate it is full-bodied with good structure, well-integrated tannins and a long aftertaste.
Food pairing: Roasts (lamb), game and other strong meats, and Sardinian cheeses.
Additional information
Three-way blend of the island’s most important red grapes, i.e. Cannonau and Monica, with Bovale Sardo, aging 10-12 months in oak casks of which 40% are new and 60% used.
Bovale - most likely being a clone of the Spanish Bobal grape - is mainly used for blending in some of the up-and-coming Sardinian I.G.T. wines, such as this rustic and characterful Pranu Mariga.
